I present Window Treatment Classes
at local libraries. These are usually one time
classes lasting about an hour. The purpose is
to acquaint the audience with the different types
of window treatments such as soft (fabric), hard
(Hunter Douglas, Kirsch and Graber as examples),
and with hardware and trim, and to help them select
the right treatments for their needs.

Banded Scaldinos. You
may ask, what is a scaldino?
A scaldino is a strip of decorator fabric that
is laid across the foot of a bed. It can be 24
inches wide, or wider, to make a light coverlet
that can be placed over a comforter. It is lightly
padded, and can be banded and backed in a contrasting
fabric. A scaldino is a lighter-looking and less
expensive alternative to a custom bedspread or
Green Fabrics and Shades.
I think these words are overused. However, I have
found a couple of companies that deal with the
real McCoy. One of these companies sells hand-woven
shades that are made of natural fibers, even the
privacy liners are made of hemp. Another company
sells fabrics that are made of organic cotton,
linen, soybean, bamboo, hemp, and silk materials.
